Choose format and quality
Keep each file's format or convert everything to JPG or WebP. Drag the quality slider — 80% is the sweet spot — and optionally cap the longest side to shrink oversized screenshots.
Compress and download
Click Compress. Each result shows its new dimensions and exactly how much smaller it is. Download individually or grab everything as a ZIP.
Why compress images?
Faster pages, better SEO
Images are usually the heaviest part of a page. Smaller files improve Largest Contentful Paint, one of Google's Core Web Vitals ranking signals.
Fit upload limits
Email attachments, CMS uploads, app stores and support tickets all cap file size. Compress a 12 MB photo to under 1 MB in seconds.
Lighter screenshots for docs
Retina screenshots are often 5–10 MB PNGs. Capping the width at 1920 px and saving as WebP cuts that to a few hundred KB with crisp text.
Private by design
Unlike most online compressors, nothing is sent to a server. Confidential dashboards, contracts and customer data stay on your machine.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I compress an image online for free?
Drop one or more JPG, PNG or WebP files into the tool, pick an output format and quality, and click Compress. Every file is processed in your browser and shows its before → after size. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
How much smaller will my images get?
Photos saved as JPG or WebP at 75–85% quality typically shrink by 60–90% with no visible difference. PNG is lossless, so PNG screenshots shrink most when you cap the longest side (for example 1920 px) or switch to WebP, which keeps transparency at a fraction of the size.
Does compressing reduce image quality?
JPG and WebP are lossy, so very low quality settings will show blockiness and colour banding. At 80% or above the difference is imperceptible for most photos and screenshots. PNG output is lossless — the pixels stay identical.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser with the built-in canvas encoder. Your images never leave your device, which also means there is no file-size limit and no queue.
Why is my compressed PNG the same size as the original?
PNG cannot be compressed further without changing the pixels, and browsers already produce well-optimised PNGs. If re-encoding would make the file larger the tool returns your original untouched. To shrink a PNG, lower the max dimension or choose WebP as the output format.
Can I compress many images at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many files as you like — they are processed in sequence with the same settings and you can download everything as a single ZIP.
What is the best format for web images?
WebP gives the smallest files and supports transparency, and every modern browser reads it. Use JPG when the image must open in older software or email clients, and PNG when you need pixel-perfect lossless output such as UI screenshots with fine text.
