How to download a Loom video

01

Copy the Loom link

Open the Loom and click Copy link, or copy the URL from your browser's address bar. Share and embed links both work.

02

Paste it above

Paste the link into the box and click Download MP4. The tool finds the best-quality version Loom has for that video.

03

Save the MP4

The file downloads automatically, named after the video title. Preview it on the page, then trim, compress or re-upload it anywhere.

Why download a Loom video?

Keep a copy before it disappears

Loom links break when a workspace downgrades, a free plan hits its video limit or the owner deletes the recording. A local MP4 never expires.

Edit and repurpose it

Drop the MP4 into Final Cut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut to cut a highlight, add captions or turn a walkthrough into a polished tutorial.

Share where Loom doesn't play

Upload to YouTube, LinkedIn, Slack, Google Drive or an LMS, or attach it to a support ticket — no Loom account needed to watch.

Watch offline

Save onboarding videos, course lessons and client feedback for a flight or a spotty connection, and archive them with the project.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I download a Loom video?

Copy the video's share link from Loom (it looks like loom.com/share/…), paste it into the box above and click Download MP4. The tool finds the highest-quality version Loom has, saves it as an MP4 and names the file after the video title.

Can I download a Loom video I didn't record?

Yes, if the video is shared publicly — anyone with the link can watch it, so the tool can save it. Videos that are private to a workspace, password-protected or restricted to specific people can't be fetched from a public link. In that case ask the owner to share the MP4 or enable downloads.

How do I convert a Loom video to MP4?

You don't need a separate converter. The downloader always gives you an MP4: when Loom has a ready-made MP4 it's saved as-is, and when Loom only streams the video in chunks (common for newer recordings) the chunks are stitched into a single MP4 in your browser without re-encoding, so there's no quality loss.

Is it free? Is there a watermark or length limit?

It's completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Long recordings work too; the video is held in your browser's memory while it's assembled, so very long, high-resolution Looms need a little more RAM.

Does the video go through your servers?

No. Your browser downloads the video directly from Loom's CDN and, if needed, joins the pieces with FFmpeg running locally in the page. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on Screen Charm's servers.

Why can't I find the download button in Loom?

Loom hides it in the three-dot menu on the video page, and only shows it when you own the video or the owner has allowed downloads. Free Loom plans and some workspaces turn it off entirely, which is why most people end up searching for a Loom downloader.

Does it work on iPhone, Android and Chromebook?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge — on desktop and mobile. On iPhone, Safari saves the MP4 to the Files app; from there you can move it to Photos.

Can I download the Loom transcript or captions?

The downloader saves the video and audio track. Captions aren't burned into the file. If you need subtitles, drop the MP4 into our free Add Subtitles to Video tool to auto-generate captions and burn them in, or export them as an SRT file.
